Christmas is a difficult time of year for a lot of parents, who can’t always afford to buy their kids numerous expensive presents. To hopefully help out with getting those gifts for the kids, here’s an early warning of what could end up being the hottest toys of 2010.
With the whole of the UK coming off the back of one of the worst recessions in its history, personal spending has dropped dramatically as people are being more careful with their money. Many of the top toys of 2010 will likely reflect this, with many RRP’s being set at less than £50. That should improve the situation for a lot of parents, as hopefully they’ll be able to afford some of the most in-demand Christmas gifts of 2010.
This year’s top toys are likely to be those characters from popular television shows and films, as well as some new spins on old classics.
When it’s young boys you’re looking to buy for, you should be aiming to discover the most popular film and television characters around. Toy Story, Transformers and Shrek immediately spring to mind, with Buzz Lightyear almost guaranteed to be a favourite amongst young children. You can expect to see a rush for any Transformer toys, and probably any kind of toy that follows the Transformers mould. Shrek characters will no doubt be popular with the release of Shrek 4, and toys surrounding this film will probably make popular Christmas gifts for him or her.
I can imagine RC helicopters, or any kind of remote control vehicle also being very popular with young boys this year.
If it’s young girls you’re looking at buying gifts for, aim for kids shows like Peppa Pig, who do a great job of marketing the toys along along with the show. Other brands likely to be big this year include Dora the Explorer, the ever-present Hannah Montana and Bratz, who look like continuing their popularity from last Christmas.
Sylvanian Family toys have been consistently popular with young children over the last few years, and it’s fairly likely that they’ll continue to be popular for Christmas 2010. If you have a child that is slightly older, the Kidizoom Camera or GOGO Hamster both look like being extremely popular, and either would make a great Christmas gifts for her.
